Devi Mata Yatra

The purpose of these web pages is to take you on a yatra (pilgrimage) to have holy darshan (vision) of different manifestations of Devi Mata (the Divine Mother).  The temples you will be visiting are in Northwestern India.  Some are in Jammu and others are in Himachal Pradesh.

Most of these temples came about through the direct request of the Devi (Goddess).  The murti (form) worshipped in most of these temples is that of a pindi.  A pindi is a natural stone without any special form.  Devi Ma has revealed the location of the pindi and asked her devotees to worship the pindi as herself.

I have been to these temples and welcome input from visitors to this site.

For more information on these temples and on Devi Mata there are a number of books and films. "Victory To The Mother" by Kathleen M. Erndl is highly recommended. She lived in Punjab, learned the local language and studied how Shiranvali Ma (Mother with the tiger) is worshipped in Northwestern India. A recent film called "Jai Ma Vaishno Devi" is a modern Bollywood version about Vaisho Devi.

Jai Mata Di

Enjoy your yatra.
