Tantra paintings

Poonam Devi and Basudev Jha are the Madhubani Tantric artists. The husband and wife team share the work. Poonam does the line drawings and Basudev puts in the color. They make the heavy paper themselves. This style of Tantric art comes from the Bihar state and is a family tradition. Poonam learned Tantric art from her father. Here you see them with a collection of some of their paintings. There is a lot of work involved with each painting. Some of the paintings take up to one month to complete.
